November/December: Fighting on for LiNK

In Uncategorized on January 12, 2014 at 11:40 pm

This month we got the incredible opportunity of collaborating with some awesome organizations on campus to promote awareness for Liberty in North Korea!

1. Korean BBQ Fundraiser with PaPhi

The generous brothers of PaPhi offered to help LiNK coordinate a Korean bbq fund-raiser and offered all of the proceeds towards our cause of rescuing a refugee! We couldn’t have asked for a better option and the barbeque was extremely successful! We had a greater turn-out than had been expected (after all who can resist Korean barbeque and a good cause like ours?) and we want to thank everybody who showed up! Because of you, one more life can experience the freedom that they deserve!

2. Step into A.S.I.A

We also collaborated with the Southeast Asia Interest Association (SEAIA), Chinese Undergraduate Student Association (CUSA), and the Hmong Student Association of Carolina for a week of awareness on Asia on our campus! LiNK offered a stimulation of the experience of shopping in a market and going to school in both North Korea and South Korea. We received positive feedback and are so glad that this helped create more awareness in our community!

3. Project for Awesome: Eat Your Kimchi

Project for Awesome coordinated an amazing competition over our winter break which offered the resources to rescue 12 refugees! Special thanks to Eat Your Kimchi (check them out on YouTube) for helping to promote our cause. On January 14, we found out that LiNK had won the competition and $50,000! All that money will be contributed to rescuing refugees!!! Wow, this is such great news, and really brings us so much hope for the people in North Korea. Here’s the video showing our win! –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Yml2xJdooA

4. Noteworthy Links

And for your entertainment, here are some interesting links regarding North Korea and some of their current events

Get pumped for an exciting and event-filled spring semester with LiNK! We have so many exciting things planned for you guys 🙂
